Well, it's finally here. To say it simply, I have enjoyed finally getting a chance to take a writing class. As much as I enjoy reading and writing, I have never felt like I have met my full potential. After reviewing my first blog of the quarter, I don't see my writing making a shift in style or intellectually. Yet, I will say I see many areas of growth I can still capitalize on. In others, throughout this course I have been challenged with writing assignments that have incorportated limits, rules, and such fallacies. I never realized how easy it is to think you're on the right track, and then get a reality check. Although, to look at this in a positive light, after many class discussions, peer criticing, and turning in what I precieved to be grade A papers that were...well no quit that, I have learned that I need to approach writing with a whole different attitude. I've always been fairly decent with figuring out exactly what I want to write about, yet I have never been given guidelines such of those in English 102.
I think this class provided me with the training wheels I kicked too early and helped me see that I have much to grasp when fully understanding the art of writing. It did help to get other classmate's perspectives, so I could have more than my own view on each piece. Of course, bias opinions are the only downside of that. I also found the open class discussions to be very useful to get the wheels spining in my thinking cap. This gave me the ability to practice arguing my opinions with logic and causing me to rethink my bias. Overall, I took more than I expected to away from this course. For a person who appreciates writing, I have gained more respect for the art and I can rest on that.
